  • 2009-10 Varsity & JV Bowling Schedule & Results (updated 2/5/10)

    2/5/10 - The varsity Bears finished their season this week, earning a 6th place finish at MMAA All-Catholic Championships, rolling a 1663 series. Amy Marciniak led the team with a 473 set while Liz Szpara added a 470 series. Szpara was also named First Team All-Catholic for her 168.2 league average, fourth highest in the league. Prior to All-Catholics, IA closed out the regular season by defeating St. Mary's (Lancaster) in three of four games, but dropping three of four games to Mt. St. Mary's. Liz Szpara led IA in both contests with team high sets of 510 and 505, respectively. The girls finished the year with a 32-24 regular season record.

    The JV Bears finished the season in second place, sweeping all four games in their final contest vs. first place Mt. St. Mary's. Hanna Metzger finished her season with a league high(JV) game of 196. She was also honored for her league-high 484 series. Both of those were personal
    bests for Hanna. Amber Penna, Alicia Dolan and Ashley Bates also
    contributed to the victory. Newcomer Jessica Hall shot a personal best
    123 to help close the win. The JV Bears finished the regular season with a 43.5 - 12.5 overall record.

    1/14/10 - After sweeping Park School, the varsity bowling team won three of four games against Holy Angels. Alyssa Larivey's 215 game and 512 set lead the way for the Bears, while Liz Szpara rolled a 508 set. Strong performances from Sarah Horvath (141), and Caitlyn Fennell (121), also contributed to the win. The Bears improved their record to 27-13 and are now in 3rd place.

    1/6/10 - After sweeping Mount Mercy and St. Mary's of Lancaster, the varsity bowling team dropped three of four games to second place Nardin Academy. Immaculata remains in fourth place with a 20-12 record. Amy Marciniak led the Bears with a team high 540 set, which included a 203 game. Alyssa Larivey's 164 and Liz Spzara's 199 helped take the third game of the match.

    The JV Bears dropped three of the their four games against Nardin Academy. Despite strong performances from Amber Penna(350 set) and Ashley Bates(395 set), the Bears fell short of winning. They lost their third game by five pins and the fourth game by just three pins. The JV Bears are still in second place with a 25.5 - 6.5 record.

    12/16/09 - The varsity Bears team dropped three of four games to second place Sacred Heart, last Tuesday. Liz Szpara had her best day of the season so far by rolling a 563set, which included games of 184,195, and 184. Sarah Horvath improved her season average with games of 148 and 145, while Alyssa Larivey's 155 third game helped IA take the last game of the night. The team still sits in fourth place with an 11-9 record.

    The JV Bears have moved into third place and only a half game out of first. The girls swept Sacred Heart to improve their impressive record to 18.5 - 1.5. Ashley Bates led the team with a 426 set, her highest set of the season. She also had the team high game of the night with a 169. Both the varsity and JV squads will take on rival Mt. Mercy this Thursday, before two weeks off, for the Christmas break.

    12/7/09 - The Varsity Bears swept Holy Angels last Thursday to remain in 4th place with a 10-6 record. Liz Szpara led the way with a team high 204 game and 542 set. Amy Marciniak's 452 set and Alyssa Larivey's 409 set helped the Bears roll their season best team set of 1748.

    Amber Penna's 163 and 153 games, along with her 432 set helped JV Bears stay just one-half game out of first place. By sweeping all four games against St.Mary's, the girls improved their record to 14.5 - 1.5.

    12/3/09 - The Bears improved their record to 6-4 by sweeping all four games against Park School, Tuesday afternoon. Amy Marciniak led the Bears with a 475 set, including a team-high 179 game. Liz Szpara
    rolled games of 175 and 163 to finish with a 472 set. Alyssa Larivey's 166 second game helped complete the sweep.
    The JV Bears won all four of their games to improve their record to 9.5 - 2.5. Hanna Metzger led the team with a 158 game and 361 set. Strong contributions from Ashley Bates, Alicia Dolan, and Jess Hall helped the Bears roll a 1272 set.

    11/30/09 - After two matches the varsity bowling team has a record of 2 - 6, dropping a pair of 1-3 decisions to Mt. Mercy and Nardin. Amy Marciniak rolled a team high 205 game against Mount Mercy, while Liz Szpara rolled a 492 set vs. Nardin, that included a 171 game. The Junior varsity team won their opening matches, compling a record of 6.5 -1.5.
